A FAMILY
history

In 1913, the family history of Nature et Aliments began and continues to be written day after day...

Seaweed-based desserts...

In 1905, Eugène JOST, a sales representative at L.U., discovered "blanc-mangers" in England, seaweed cakes that reminded him of those made by his mother as a child. Back in Nantes, Eugène and his wife Stéphanie DAVID decided to market "Plaisance Entremets" jellied with agar-agar (Japanese seaweed). In powder form, easy to make, Entremets Plaisance is above all affordable.

Plaisance Entremets

The "Entremets Plaisance" brand was registered in 1919 by Eugène and Stéphanie JOST. It is the company's historic trademark. The brand was first sold in grocers' shops, then in supermarkets and hypermarkets, following the evolution of food distribution. As the product range diversified, Entremets Plaisance was replaced by the Plaisance Bio® brand.

1919

Modernism et Prosperity

To keep up with the brand's national expansion, Eugène JOST buys machines. These alone weighed, filled and glued the bags at a speed of 20 bags a minute.

Dark days and dark years...

The supply problems caused by the Second World War were a source of difficulties for the company. The lack of agar-agar was replaced by a substitute. However, the entremets were not of the expected quality. Production came to a halt. Since her husband's death in 1936, the company has been run by Madame "Veuve JOST-DAVID", who ensured its continuity until her death in 1962, handing over to her children Denise and Stéphane.

1960

A milestone in distribution !

The 60s saw a major change in retailing. The advent of supermarkets. The company adapted to this new form of retailing. This was the beginning of a close collaboration with the major retailers in the Nantes region.

Discovering nutritional laws

In the 80s, Stéphane JOST and his son Bruno, eager to put nutritional quality first, took an interest in new products: wholegrain cereals, sesame, nutritional yeast and "vegetable pâté", and in new channels such as organic farming.

Eat natural, eat organic

Based on his discoveries in dietetics and agrobiology, Bruno JOST, like his grandfather with Entremets Plaisance, created a company: Nature & Aliments and a brand Natali®.

In 1989, Natali® and Plaisance® merged, combining forces and production resources. The dietary dessert also became organic.

Creating Plaisance BIO

Nature et Aliments decided that the company would produce only organic products. And so the aging, conventional Plaisance® brand was rebranded as Plaisance Bio.

The start of a new era

2011

The third generation passes the torch to the fourth generation, Magalie JOST and Sybile CHAPRON, with two missions:

Develop the company in line with the values and culture initiated in 1913 and create a new tool aligned with the company's values.

Moving to a new home

After almost 100 years on the street de la ville en Bois, Nature et Aliments is the driving force behind the creation of an organic cluster for environmentally-friendly factories in the Nantes region. The new plant has been built in accordance with the High Environmental Quality approach, and the office section has been designed to be BBC-certified.

Plaisance Bio deploys a new identity

The new identity respects the brand's history, while integrating the codes of the supermarket world. A gentle, gourmet visual makeover, with the main aim of making all the brand's packaging highly recognizable.

A timeless black-and-white logotype, which adds character and enables colors to be played with on the sachets. The brand name designed in a new, modern typography, sober and instantly legible.

The wording "since 1913" is an integral part of the brand block, capitalizing on the company's rich history. The representation of the entremets, a strong symbol of the company, taken from the engravings of yesteryear, sets the scene and plunges consumers into the world of gourmet delights.
